Animal Control
The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Control provides a variety of services to the community that include an annual vaccination clinic that
is free of charge to the residents of the City of Cudahy where free micro-chip services are also available on site. Please look out for our
next vaccination clinic. Below is just a few of the services offered by the Department of Animal Care and Control:
Pet Licensing
California law requires that every dog four months of age or older must have a current license fastened to its collar. Even dogs that
"never leave the house" or property have a way of getting out through accidentally opened gates or by digging under fences. Also, a natural
disaster like an earthquake or fire may cause your pet to flee the safety of your property. Having a dog license on its collar will help
reunite your lost pet with you. For more information on licensing fees please

Pet Adoption
If you are interested in adopting a pet, the shelter offers a wide variety of potential pets for you and your family to choose from. Most of the
animals are either strays or pets turned in by owners that are no longer able to keep them. The many benefits
of
adopting from a County Animal Care Center include; low-cost
spaying and neutering, a free veterinary check-up, and the knowledge that
your new pet has already received initial vaccinations against contagious diseases.
What do "spay" and "neuter" really mean?
Female dogs and cats are spayed by removing their reproductive organs, and male dogs and cats are neutered by removing their testicles. In
both cases the operation is performed while the pet is under anesthesia. Depending on your pet's age, size, and health, he or she will stay at your
veterinarian's office for a few hours or a few days. Depending upon the procedure, your pet may need stitches removed after a few days.
Your veterinarian can fully explain spay and neuter procedures to you and discuss with you the best age at which to sterilize your
pet.
Dog and Cat Spay or Neuter Services
Singita Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit organization, and the
Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control have joined
forces to offer low cost spay/neuters and vaccinations for dogs and cats. Spay/Neuter surgeries are available for $10 per dog or cat.
In addition, Low cost vaccines and microchip installations are also available. For more information please
